Wellington Hospitals Foundation is delighted that Mrs Ruth Gotlieb has joined the Foundation’s 450 hospital volunteer team as a Meet and Greet volunteer, welcoming visitors, patients and family members to Wellington Hospital.

Ruth Gotlieb is a prominent Wellingtonian having served the City of Wellington outstandingly over many decades, as a City Councillor, Regional Councillor, Harbour Board member, Hospital Board member and many other civic roles. Kilbirnie Library is named after Ruth. In 2010-2011 Ruth received a Wellingtonian of the Year Award.

Trish Lee, Foundation Volunteer Manager said that Ruth was very keen to volunteer at the hospital. “We are delighted to have Ruth as part of our volunteer team. At 94 Ruth Gotlieb is as spritely as ever with a most fantastic positive attitude”.

Trish said that Ruth volunteers on Monday afternoons for 2 hours and it is a joy to have her as part of our team of Hospital volunteers.

Bill Day, Foundation chair said the Foundation’s volunteers do a magnificent job for hospital patients, visitors and staff and added that Ruth wants to continue volunteering for a few more years yet.

“We are delighted to have Ruth on board”.
