It’s National Volunteer week and we are incredibly fortunate to have an extraordinary family of more than 450 volunteers, who generously choose to gift their time and talents to help our hospitals every week. Huge aroha and thanks to them all! This week we’d love to introduce a few of them.
You have to be extraordinarily lucky to bump into Hayden at Wellington Hospital because he has a very unique and special volunteer role which often goes unseen. Hayden is a registered nurse working in Kenepuru Hospital’s, Older Adult and Rehabilitation Unit. When he’s not at work caring for his elderly patients or spending time with his young family, he can be found helping the Foundation team look after Hospi.
Hospi and Hayden are good mates and every week Hayden will pop in to check on him. He especially loves hearing about how much Hospi enjoys visiting the kids in the children’s hospital, or the fun things he’s seen at one of our events. “I enjoy the family atmosphere and comradery of volunteering. And seeing how Hospi brings joy to so many (and a few tears to some) makes my day a lot less stressful.” Thanks for visiting Hospi Hayden and looking after him so well!
