To help keep kids warm and well this winter, Wellington Hospitals Foundation has launched its annual Jammies in June Appeal for Wellington, Kenepuru and Hutt Hospitals.  Please donate online so that we can buy cosy new PJs on your behalf!

Respiratory conditions are a leading cause of acute admissions to hospital for children and our Child Health Service sees a significant increase in the number of children who are admitted to hospital over the winter months – many of them arriving without a pair of pyjamas.

The hospital’s community nursing teams also frequently visit children in homes that are cold and damp, leaving young children even more vulnerable to complications from asthma, bronchitis and other nasty respiratory infections.  Being warm help’s support children’s immune systems so that they can better fight off any viruses that come their way.

Guy Ryan, CE of the Foundation said, “Community support for our annual Pyjama Appeal has always been incredible.  Some kiwi families are doing it really tough and there are many sick kids who have never even owned a pair of pyjamas.  Other kids are unexpectedly raced into hospital on cold winter nights with little or no notice.  It’s scary for kids, and having a warm pair of clean pyjamas to change into makes a huge difference to our tamariki, and rangatahi.  Please donate today.”

Your online donation will allow us to target the sizes needed as children are seen in our hospitals over the next few months.

Thank you!
