We are thrilled to announce that the Playscape at Te Wao Nui Children’s Hospital has won an Excellence Award in the “Landscapes of Care” category at the 2024 Resene New Zealand Institute of Landscape Architecture Awards (NZILA).

The Playscape is a vibrant and adventurous space, thoughtfully designed to meet the needs of children’s rehabilitation. It blends calming elements with a sense of adventure, creating an inviting outdoor play and rehabilitation area.

With lush plantings, ramps, and balustrades, the Playscape evokes a jungle-like experience that complements the hospital’s forest theme. The overall design fosters a warm and welcoming atmosphere, significantly enhancing the hospital experience for our tamariki and rangatahi.

This project was made possible through the generous funding from Lions International (Districts 202M, 202D & 202M), Lions Club International Foundation, and The Lloyd Morgan Charitable Trust. Their dedication to fundraising has been crucial in bringing this vision to life, and this award is a testament to their outstanding mahi.
