The Foundation is thrilled to have a three-year Charity Partnership with Buddle Findlay Child Health Foundation. Funds from the second year of our agreement have enabled the purchase of 6 Cubro Haelvoet Duo-Line chairs to be used as breastfeeding chairs in NICU, a Giraffe Blue Spot Phototherapy System for Te Wao Nui Children’s Hospital and 35 BuzzyBee4Shots units for Te Wao Nui, the Emergency Department and Community Nursing Team.
The new breastfeeding chairs are ergonomically designed and offer a comfortable and adaptable seating option for new mothers and their babies during this difficult period.
The Giraffe Blue Spot Phototherapy System is another vital addition to Te Wao Nui. This state of the art equipment is essential in treating hyperbilirubinemia (jaundice), a condition affecting 60% of full-term babies and 80% of pre-term babies. In severe cases, if left untreated, jaundice can cause deafness or brain damage. Having this system onsite ensures that pēpē have immediate access to phototherapy treatment, eliminating the need for Te Wao Nui to borrow equipment from the NICU.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Buddle Findlay Child Health Foundation for their ongoing support. Through this partnership, we continue to improve the quality of care and comfort for our community’s youngest and most vulnerable members.
