It was wonderful to welcome the talented Paul Beavis, local author and children’s book illustrator, to Te Wao Nui Children’s Hospital this morning.
Parents with young children will instantly recognise his lively style from books such as Nee Naw The Little Fire Engine series, Mrs Mo’s Monster, and Ring Ting Tui.
As a former winner of the prestigious Russell Clark Award for best New Zealand children’s illustrator for Mrs Mo’s Monster, Paul mesmerised the children by bringing his colourful characters to life.
When children leave a normal busy childhood and find themselves in hospital, it can be pretty scary and stressful. The Foundation is delighted to facilitate visits like this that bring a touch of joy and wonder, and significantly enhance a child’s hospital experience.
