We are delighted to share this heartfelt story from a family whose life has been touched by the dedicated teams at Te Wao Nui Children’s Hospital. This beautiful testament not only highlights the exceptional care, kindness, and support provided by the hospital’s staff, but also celebrates the remarkable resilience of young patients like Sophie. We wish her all the very best.

“A huge ‘thank you’ to the Te Wao Nui Child Health Service Children hospital and Wellington Free Ambulance!

Our little girl had 5 admissions in the last 12 months (arrived in an ambulance for 3 of those) and we are so grateful for the care we’ve received each time. The entire team, from the paramedics, to the hospital medical professionals to the support staff, showed immense care, support and kindness to ensure she was comfortable and well taken care of.

The hospital is so beautiful, creating a warm and welcoming environment that helps in the healing process – and not to forget Tiaki & his forest friends. Our daughter Sophie has become extremely attached to the little mascot and asked for a “Tiaki-themed” party for her 6th birthday a few weeks ago.

It was a scavenger hunt that had 10 kids completing different challenges at each station and discovering one of the forest friends along the way. Our friend Sarah made an amazing Tiaki cake (which was incredible inside & out) and each kid got to take home a Tiaki colouring book and a box of the Tiaki plasters.

Instead of birthday presents we asked each party guest for $5 and topped it up to a $100 donation to Te Wao Nui.

Thank you again for everything you do, day in and day out to help kids and their families. Forever grateful!”
