Frequently asked questions

We’re running a face to face fundraising campaign to raise funds for key equipment, technology and comfort items across our hospitals. Our friendly representatives visit homes to share information about the Foundation’s work and to invite people to become Regular Givers.

Whether it’s funding lifesaving equipment, improving patient and family spaces, or supporting advanced staff training, Regular Givers are the steady hands behind our hospitals.

Because support is ongoing, it gives us the stability to plan ahead with confidence while also allowing us to respond quickly when urgent needs arise.

Yes - and no. While the Government funds essential hospital services, the health dollar only stretches so far. Community donations help hospital teams go beyond the basics, providing up to date equipment, advanced technology and extra resources that enhance care for patients and their families.

Regular giving ensures our hospitals can respond quickly to urgent or unexpected needs. Your support reaches every corner of our hospitals, including:

  • Emergency Department
  • Blood and Cancer Service
  • Heart and Lung Unit
  • Te Wao Nui Child Health Service
  • Intensive Care
  • Surgical Theatres
  • Ear, Nose and Throat
  • Radiology
  • Women’s Clinic
  • Allied Health Services
  • In-Patient Wards

Our fundraisers will always:

•    Wear an official Wellington Hospitals Foundation bib.
•    Display a photo ID badge showing their name and identification number
•    They will never ask for or accept cash donations

All fundraisers follow the Public Fundraising Regulatory Association (PFRA) guidelines, which allow visits only:

  • Between 9am and 8.30pm during daylight savings
  • Between 9am and 7.00pm during winter

They also comply with all privacy requirements.

Our team operates under the Public Fundraising Regulatory Association (PFRA), which sets strict standards to ensure all face-to-face fundraising is ethical, transparent, and respectful.

If you’d like to confirm the identity of a fundraiser or have any concerns, please contact one of our friendly team at Donations@whf.org.nz or call (04) 806 2332
