This privacy statement explains how we, Wellington Hospitals Foundation (we, our, or us) collect, use and share your personal information. We are committed to protecting your privacy and keeping your personal information safe and will only collect and use your information to support our mission - helping Wellington Regional, Hutt and Kenepuru Hospitals provide the best possible in-hospital care for patients and their families.

This information may be collected directly by our third party payment and e-commerce providers. We will generally collect this information directly from you. In some cases we may also collect personal information about you from third parties (such as Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora, the New Zealand Police or the Ministry of Justice) or from publicly available sources. We will only do so where that is permitted by law (for example, where you have authorised us to do so).
How we use your information
We may use your information to:
● Process donations, complete transactions for your purchases, and issue receipts.
● Keep you informed about the impact of your support.
● Contact you about upcoming appeals, events and promotional activities that we think you might be interested in.
● Ensure your details and contact preferences are accurate and up to date.
● Analyse trends to help us undertake our mission more effectively. This might sometimes involve using artificial intelligence tools. Where we use artificial intelligence tools, we will always be careful to protect your information and to ensure that third parties can only use that information in a way that does not identify you.
We will always respect your communication preferences and you can change or opt out of communications at any time.
Who we share information with
For the purposes described above, we may need to share your personal information with third parties that help us deliver our mission and with our fundraising activities. This includes:
● our client relationship management platform, marketing systems, payment gateways and analytics providers; and
● volunteers, service providers, professional advisors and financial institutions.
We may also disclose information to third parties where we believe it is reasonably necessary to enforce our legal rights, or to protect the rights, property and safety of us, our employees, you, or others.
In some cases, we may also need to share your personal information with third parties outside New Zealand. When we do so, we will always ensure that we have in place safeguards comparable to those provided under the Privacy Act 2020.
Keeping your information safe
Your personal and financial information is stored securely in our CRM and fundraising systems which meet strict data-protection and payment-security standards. These systems are connected via secure APIs so that your data remains within that ecosystem. Our fundraising and payment systems comply with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) and we run compliant processes to protect donors' financial information from unauthorised access, use or disclosure. Access to donor data is limited to authorised staff and protected by multi-factor authentication.
Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and website analytics tools (such as Google Analytics) to understand how people use our website and to improve your experience. Our Gifts and Gratitude shop is hosted by Lightspeed, who may also use cookies and similar analytics tools as detailed in their privacy policy (see Privacy Policy - Lightspeed). You can adjust your browser settings to refuse cookies, but this may affect your ability to use some features of our website or the Gifts and Gratitude shop.
