This week, the new expansion to Wellington Regional Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) opened, after over a year of work. The ICU expansion increases it’s capacity from 18 to 24 beds, and will ensure fewer non-urgent surgeries are postponed.
Wellington Hospitals Foundation is proud to have funded over $92,000 worth of equipment for the new space. This was made possible thanks to special community support and funding.
We funded:
- A Prismaflex Dialysis machine.
- 2 Electronic patient beds.
- Artwork for the new administration area.
- 6 ceiling mounted TV’s.
- 2 DVD players for use on trolleys.
- 8 Bluetooth headphones.
- Plus additional electronic items.
The Wellington ICU unit sees over 1800 admission a year, and the new bed spaces will gradually be rolled out to accommodate the increase of patients.
Thanks again to our supporters for making this significant contribution possible.
