You may recognise Jill Reid as one of our lovely Kenepuru Hospital Guides, but for the last 8 years she has also been an integral volunteer member of Kenepuru’s preschool neurodevelopmental hydrotherapy programme. This programme is an extension of dry land therapies, with the warm water making exercises either easier or more difficult, thereby increasing the physical benefit. Jill has worked with hundreds of children and their families in her time in the pool, alongside Maryanne, the service’s physiotherapist. She has built their trust, confidence and ability in the water with her gentle approach, while also adapting to the unique physiotherapy needs of each child. Sadly Jill has now wrung out her togs, and we were delighted to be with her on her last day to celebrate her work with these special families.
Fabulous volunteers making a difference
