The new Mark Dunajtschik Mental Health Centre, to be built on the Hutt Hospital campus is another reflection of Mark Dunajtschik’s amazing generosity and desire to create better health services for the people of Te Whanganui-a-Tara.

This modern, fit-for-purpose facility will be a lifeline for the increasing numbers of adults facing a mental health crisis, and a much better environment for those working on the frontline. Wellington Hospitals Foundation is pleased to be working alongside Te Whatu Ora Health NZ – Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley district as this project develops. McKee Fehl Constructors Ltd are once again working with Mark and Te Whatu Ora to build the new 34 bed unit.

Mark Dunajtschik and Dorothy Spotswood have already contributed $50 million towards our new regional children’s hospital – Te Wao Nui, which is due to open in October 2022. This is generosity the likes of which we have never seen before in this country. Wellington Hospitals Foundation has raised almost $10 million from the community to outfit and equip the interior of Te Wao Nui.
