Today, on World Prematurity Day, we’re celebrating the difference you make for the tiniest patients in Wellington Regional Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
Because of your generosity, these little ones and their families are never alone – they have a caring community rallying behind them. In the past year alone, you’ve contributed over $560,000 to support the NICU, and we have another exciting announcement to share with you soon!
Imagine a newborn, so small and fragile, fighting for survival. Because of you, our NICU is equipped with additional state of the art incubators and advanced medical equipment like Criticool Cooling Machines, that provide these precious pēpē with the specialised care they urgently need.
Your support also transforms the NICU into a place where families find strength and hope. Because of your generosity, we’ve funded Wellington’s first milk bank, medical research that leads to better care, ergonomic breastfeeding chairs and comfort items that bring warmth and reassurance to families waiting anxiously for the next update or a precious chance to hold their baby.
Our wonderful community of knitters and sewers also wraps around the service, creating lovingly handcrafted items that bring extra comfort and care to these wee ones.
Thank you for helping make every precious moment possible.
