Like most things in New Zealand at the moment our New Children’s Hospital building site has been shut down due to COVID19 as it’s not an essential service, but the current children’s Hospital is operating as best COVID19 will allow.
In the meantime, the New Children’s Hospital project management and design teams are continuing to progress detailed designs and procurement activities remotely. Weta Workshop also continue their work for the new hospital as they develop the creative environment and interactive space in the hospital. Bill Day, Chair of the Foundation was excited to see updated concept designs and said, “The creative environment of the new children’s hospital is focused on children and their families and it will greatly enhance their well-being and experience of visiting and staying in hospital. Even though I’m not the target market, Weta’s ideas and concepts are exciting and impressive. It’s wonderful to have the Weta Workshop team on board again.”
We look forward to the project continuing as soon as COVID-19 level 4 status is over.
The Foundation continues to raise funds for the new hospital’s fit out and creative environment, and to ensure that our doctors and nurses have access to the latest state of the art medical equipment to enable them to provide the best possible care for sick children. Please continue to support this project which is a significant and long term investment in the health of children and young people across the Greater Wellington Region.
