We are thrilled to announce that Te Wao Nui children’s hospital, in the Mark Dunajtschik and Dorothy Spotswood Building, has been awarded the Rider Levett Bucknall Supreme Award and Excellence and Best in Category Warren & Mahoney Civic, Health and Arts Property Award at the Property Council New Zealand Rider Levett Bucknall Property Industry Awards 2023.
The Property Council Industry Awards are presented to outstanding property projects across Aotearoa New Zealand. As the Supreme Award winner, our new regional children’s hospital has been recognised by industry experts as having exceptional design and construction, as sustainable and efficient as well as being a visionary and innovative new building.
Bill Day, Chair of the Foundation said, “These awards showcase the best of the best and this is a fantastic acknowledgement for everyone involved in bringing the vision of a new children’s hospital to a stunning reality. This includes benefactors Sir Mark and Dorothy, Te Whatu Ora Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley, Architects Studio Design & Architecture, the McKee Fehl Team and their building contractors, along with the many Wellington Hospitals Foundation donors who have helped to outfit and equip the interior of this stunning new hospital.” Te Wao Nui is a fit for purpose, child friendly hospital that will care for sick children and young people for many generations to come.
