Wellington Hospitals Foundation trustees and staff were delighted to host Christmas lunches for the dedicated individuals who generously volunteer their time to Wellington, Hutt, and Kenepuru hospitals.  This was a lovely opportunity to reflect on and acknowledge the invaluable contribution of our almost 450 hospital volunteers.

Our volunteers make an enormous difference to our hospitals.  This year there were almost 50,000 recorded volunteer service hours, providing much appreciated assistance to hospital patients, staff and visitors. This includes wayfinding, ward support and companionship, reception services, entertainment, creating handcrafted items, enriching medical training by role playing, assisting in the giftshop; and in a myriad of other ways.

Our talented volunteer knitters, sewers and quilters provided a staggering 9,000 individual handcrafted items for newborn and premature babies, as well other areas of our hospitals.

The Foundation is looking to grow its volunteer team in 2024.   If you would like to volunteer at one of our hospitals please be in touch.
