Wellington Hospitals Foundation is the official charity for the hospitals served by Te Whatu Ora
Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley district. This includes Wellington Regional, Kenepuru and Hutt Hospitals, Te Wao Nui Child Health Service and Kapiti Health Centre. We are currently fundraising for our hospitals using face to face door knockers.
But isn’t healthcare free in New Zealand?
Yes….. and no. The Government funds many important things for our hospitals, however the stretched health dollar only goes so far. With generous community support the Foundation assists all areas of our hospitals to keep pace with the latest technology and treatments and to provide resources, care and comfort items that are an integral part of a patient’s journey to good health.
Our representatives will give you information about our hospitals and invite you to become a regular giver. Every area within our hospitals provides an essential purpose and delivers the highest quality care and treatment. Regular donations help ensure that any area that has an urgent and unexpected need can have that met so that staff can continue to provide timely and high quality care for all patients. This includes areas such as the Emergency Department, Blood and Cancer Service, Heart and Lung Unit, Te Wao Nui Child Health Service, Intensive Care , Surgical Theatres, Ear Nose and Throat, Radiology, Women’s Clinic, Allied Health Services as well as all our In-patient Wards.
We take advice from the Public Fundraising Regulatory Association (PFRA) and operate our face to face fundraising according to all privacy and COVID guidelines. Our door knockers:
- will be wearing an official hi-vis vest displaying the Wellington Hospitals Foundation logo.
- will display an identification badge with their name, photo and identification number.
- never ask for, nor accept a cash donation.
- are regulated by the PFRA and operate within their strict guidelines, which prohibit first approaching private residences outside of the hours 9am-8.30pm during summer daylight savings hours and 9am-7pm during winter.
