A Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) machine is a small, portable device designed to manage pain without the use of medications. It works by sending mild electrical pulses through the skin to the nerve fibres, disrupting the pain signals being sent to the brain. These pulses are delivered through electrodes placed on the skin near the area of pain, providing targeted relief.

We are delighted to support our hospitals in enhancing the comfort and quality of life for all patients. Recently, we funded five TENS machines and seven portable radios for Wellington Hospital’s Palliative Care Service, which provides compassionate care to those nearing the end of life.

Thank you for helping us bring comfort and care to those who need it most.

“Thank you so much for this and the ongoing support of the Foundation. It makes such a difference for those we care for, and for that, we are really very grateful.” – Dr. Emma McMenamin, Palliative Care Consultant (pictured)
