Thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters, Wellington Hospitals Foundation has funded a range of equipment for the Disability Leadership and Occupational Therapy teams throughout the Medical Wards, Emergency Departments and After Hours Services at Wellington, Kenepuru and Hutt Hospitals.

This new equipment will significantly improve the hospital experience for people with disabilities and neurodivergence.

This equipment includes:

  • Portable Receivers for the Hearing Impaired: People with hearing impairments will now have access to clear communication, ensuring they understand medical procedures and feel more comfortable during their stay.
  • Sensotrol Air Switches: These alternative call bells can be activated by any part of the body, empowering people with limited mobility to call for assistance easily and independently.
  • iPads with Meditation Apps and Therapeutic Sounds: These will provide calming and therapeutic experiences for patients, helping them manage anxiety, stress, or pain through engaging, interactive content.
  • Buzzy4Shot Devices: Designed to block sharp pain and provide distraction during medical procedures, these devices will make injections and other treatments less frightening.

Your support helps create a much more comfortable and inclusive environment for all our patients.

Thank you for making a difference!
