Why fundraise and how can you get started?

We are so thankful to people who want to fundraise for us, and are here to support you however that looks. Whether you’re an individual, family, business, school or community group – our hospitals need your support. There are so many ways that you can help to support great healthcare in our region. And, so many great ways to fundraise!

Whether you’re hosting a bake sale, quiz night, running a marathon or Round the Bays, or something completely unique – doing something you love and getting friends and family involved in supporting a cause you care about is a great way to support our hospitals.

As the official charity for the hospitals across our region, Wellington Hospitals Foundation helps to connect your incredible fundraising efforts to the key areas of healthcare that matter most to you. However you want to fundraise, we’re here to support you and excited to hear about your ideas.  We’d love to hear from you.

A little local fundraising legend!

We’d love you to meet wee Bodhi, who is five years old. Sadly, Bodhi’s a frequent flyer to the children’s hospital, spending a lot of time there since he was very little.

But despite all the hospital visits, which can often be a little scary, Bodhi was keen to give back for all the good care he receives.

Bodhi's a fantastic artist, and his love for Transformers and Hot Wheels sparked a fantastic fundraising idea.

One day, Mum Amy surprised him with one of his drawings printed on T-shirts for the family. Initially Bodhi felt a little too shy to wear it, but was super stoked when he saw his little brother Abel and Dad proudly rocking his design and thought it was pretty cool!

Soon Bodhi’s friends started asking if they could have their own T-shirts!  That’s when he had the brilliant idea to print a few more and sell them to raise money for the children’s hospital to help other sick kids.  

Amy told us, “We appreciate everything the hospital does and how incredibly hard they work, and we are beyond grateful for how they have, and continue to, look after our family!”

Thanks to little legends like Bodhi and many others, we’re able to help our hospital teams deliver the best possible care to patients of all ages.

Anyone! Individuals, schools, businesses, clubs and community groups are all welcome to fundraise in support of our hospitals. Every dollar you raise helps Wellington Hospitals Foundation fund the extras that make a big difference, from specialised equipment and patient comfort items to support services that enhance care. Your fundraising supports Wellington Regional, Kenepuru and Hutt Hospitals as well as Te Wao Nui Children’s Hospital.

You can choose to support a specific hospital, service or campaign close to your heart; or simply let your generosity go where it's needed most. 

Yes, if you're planning to promote your fundraiser using our name or logo, please get in touch with us first. 

While we can't help run your event, we can offer a little guidance, promotional materials and tips to help make your fundraiser a success. We may also be able to help promote your fundraiser through our social channels.

You can deposit funds online via our website. Or contact us and we’ll send you bank account details. We’ll issue a receipt once we’ve received your kind donation.

Yes! Setting up a personalised online fundraising page is a great way to reach friends and whānau. You can use platforms like Raisely or Givealittle.

Yes, please do! We love seeing and sharing the amazing efforts of our community fundraisers. If you’re happy for us to use your photos in our newsletters, website or social media, make sure anyone pictured has given their consent. 

You can email your photos to us at admin@whf.org.nz along with a few details about your event.
