When the need for a second Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanner became urgent in 2016, our community rallied together. In record time almost $1million was raised for a new scanner that was installed alongside an existing machine.

MRI scanners use powerful magnets and radio waves to create detailed images of the inside of the body. They are essential in detecting cancers, strokes, heart and joint problems and many other serious conditions.

With the addition of the new machine, wait times for scans dropped significantly. Patients now have access to faster, high quality imaging that helps our medical teams make quicker more accurate diagnoses.

We are so grateful to the Foundation and our community for making this possible. Going online with two new MRI scanners has been life-changing for patients and staff alike. - James Entwistle, Former Head of Radiology Services
