Improving communication for patients with hearing impairment

Our generous community have funded 12 Bellman Audio Maxi Pro Personal Amplifiers for use across multiple departments within Hutt Hospital.

These devices significantly improve communication between patients and clinicians, particularly for people with impaired hearing who may not own hearing aids or may not have them with them during admission. By ensuring patients can clearly hear discussions about their care, the amplifiers assure accuracy of information, enhance privacy and reduce frustration throughout the patient experience.

As a result, patients are better able to engage in conversations about their treatment and participate more fully in their care and therapy.

Thank you very much for the three personal amplifiers generously gifted to the Outpatient Department and Fracture Clinics by the Wellington Hospital Foundation. These devices will be extremely beneficial for our hard-of-hearing patients, helping ensure they can fully participate in their appointments, both in person and over the phone. We truly appreciate the Foundation’s support and the fundraising efforts that make initiatives like this possible, helping us continue to provide a positive experience for our patients during their time in hospital.

Supporting comfort and connection in OPRS

Thanks to generous donor funding, the Older Persons & Rehabilitation Service has received two replacement fridges for its refurbished patient day room and kitchenette. These facilities are used daily by patients on the ward, including those involved in the Breakfast Group, helping support comfort, routine, and a sense of normalcy during their hospital stay.

We are so grateful to our donors for making initiatives like these possible and supporting tangible, everyday impact for patients, staff and whānau.
