There couldn’t be a more fitting time to welcome a new baby into the world than Matariki, the season of new beginnings.
Just an hour after she was born, we had the great privilege of meeting Villie and Lorraine's beautiful baby girl. She is one of many pēpi welcomed across our region during the Matariki season.
To mark Matariki, Wellington Hospitals Foundation has once again gifted soft merino wraps to every baby born across our four maternity units in Wellington, Kenepuru, Paraparaumu and Hutt Valley.
In those first precious hours, a warm wrap can be one of the first comforts a baby receives. Soft, natural and breathable, merino helps little ones stay warm while regulating their temperature. It's a simple gift made possible by the generosity of our community, helping us welcome our hospitals’ newest arrivals with a little extra warmth and care.
Many congratulations to Lorraine and Villie, and to all the parents who welcomed a pēpi during Matariki. We wish your little one and your whānau every joy (and plenty of sleep!) in the journey ahead.
