When a child is struggling to breathe, needs an urgent heart scan or is too unwell to leave their bedside, having the right equipment can make all the difference.
Thanks to the generosity of Grant Thornton, with funds raised through their corporate golf day, our Child Health Team now has access to specialist equipment that will make a real difference for tamariki and their whānau.
Airvo3 Junior devices deliver humidified high-flow nasal oxygen to babies and children who are struggling to breathe, helping many young patients recover without needing more invasive respiratory support. Astral ventilators provide safe non-invasive respiratory support for children in the community, visited by our community nursing team. Funds have also been put towards an upgrade of a portable ultrasound machine, allowing doctors to assess a sick child's heart at the bedside instead of moving them through the hospital for a scan.
It was a pleasure to welcome some of the Grant Thornton team recently and show them the equipment their support has helped fund.
